Wise Saying #1:
“Do not rob the poor, because he is poor, or crush the afflicted at the gate, for the Lord will plead their cause and rob of life those who rob them.” (Proverbs 22:22-23)
Lacking financial and social resources to protect themselves, the poor are a tempting target for the sharp practices and blatant injustices of their more able neighbors. Yet, the poor and weak have a powerful Friend! “Robbers” deceive themselves if they think the poor have no protector. Their protector is none other than the Lord Himself; Who takes up their case and avenges them in the heavenly court, robbing the robber of his very life. So today, don’t incur God’s wrath by take advantage of the defenseless, nor stop your ears to their plea for help (cf. Proverbs 21:13). Rather, open your heart, helping the helpless and thus enjoy the Lord’s blessing (cf. Proverbs 19:17; 22:9; 28:27).
