Wise Saying #21:
“Wise warriors are mightier than strong ones, and those who have knowledge than those who have strength; for by wise guidance you can wage your war, and in abundance of counselors there is victory.” (24:5-6 NRSV)
Sir Francis Bacon was not the first to state, “Knowledge is power!” Rather, he was merely summarizing the Wiseman’s counsel. Real strength is not the size of your arms but the amount of your wisdom and knowledge. This truth is only heightened by the war motif of this wise saying. Therefore, one should not engage life through brute force, but instead through the strategy of wisdom and knowledge. Since, these two qualities provide the full panoply for victory over any situation or enemy the believer will face. Especially because, the Lord Himself stands behind the wise (cf. 16:1, 3, 9; 21:30-31; Job 12:13). So friends, may prayer for you today is that you may be “filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding.” That you may “be made strong with all the strength that comes from His glorious power, and may you be prepared to endure everything with patience.” Amen. (Colossians 1:9, 11 NRSV).
