Wise Saying #11:
“Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.” (23:12 KJV)
In today’s proverb, the Wiseman instructs us to open our hearts and ears to his insightful and authoritative teaching. It seems fewer and fewer people apply themselves to learn God-inspired knowledge and wisdom. Rather, they are more interested in constantly feeding on mind-numbing entertainment and frivolous fun. For them, sitting down with God’s word or learning at the feet of a wise Christian are deathly boring. However, it is those who open their heart and ears to Wisdom’s words who are happiest and most successful. So how do you plan to spend your God-given 1,440 minutes today? Will you waste them away with the ruinous recreation of men or will you commit your heart and ears to exploring God’s heavenly wisdom (2 Timothy 3:16-17)? Instruction and knowledge are precious gifts; the choice is yours, use them or suffer the painful consequences in this life and the next.
