Wise Saying #5:
“Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.” (Proverbs 22:29)
The skillful work of the diligent will be rewarded. Our proverb today is an encouragement to those not willing to do a job halfhearted but pushes on to make sure it’s done right. Sooner, rather than later, you will be rewarded for your skillful work. Time and time again, the Wiseman says the lazy sluggard will live in want, yet the diligent will be richly satisfied (cf. Proverbs 10:4; 12:24; 13:4; 21:5) So today friends, “Whatever you do…” whether it’s cleaning the house, driving a truck, working in a factory worker, or digging a ditch; “work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” Remembering, “You are working for the Lord Christ. Knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord” no matter what kind of work he or she does (Colossians 3:23, 24b; Ephesians 6:8).
