Jesus has a question for you,
“For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?” (Luke 9:25)
The wise investor makes financial decisions based maximizing profits while minimizing losses. Our Lord calls for us to apply this investment principle to our spiritual lives. The value of the “whole world” pales in comparison to the value of to the soul. Yet sadly, many people spend all their energy pursuing the world’s worthless pleasures, possessions, and power, only to lose their most valuable possession… their soul. Such a one will miss the heavenly communion with God, while being reduced to a spiritual pauper forever in hell. O Lord, make us to see the value of our soul. Lead us to forsake the passing pleasures of this worthless world for the eternal glory of being with You. Amen.
