For those times when false teachers seem to prevail,
“Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands.” (2 Timothy 2:19a NKJV)
In the prior verses, Paul mentioned two erroneous teachers by the names of Hymeneus and Philetus. Their “irreverent babble” he said, was “upsetting the faith of some” and leading to “more and more ungodliness.” There have always been (and will always be) gangrenous false teachers who prey on the church and unfortunately, some saints will follow their destructive heresies. There are times when it appears truth is losing the battle against error. “Nevertheless,” the indestructible, “solid foundation of God stands.” The naysayers may be cleverly propagating their popular, sophisticated arguments, but God’s truth is still true. So today friend, no matter what, hold on to what is true in God.
