This saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance,
“Train yourself for godliness. While bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” (1 Timothy 4:7, 8)
Training the body through diet and exercise is part of our stewardship of life; but, it is not your priority. Rather, the apostle desires a dedicated focus to strenuously training the soul in piety. Thus, it is more important to regularly dig into God’s word, than work out. It is of greater consequence to watch what goes into your hearts, than what goes onto your plate. If this is your focus, “Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:11)
