Dear Mr. President,
I will be watching you tonight as you deliver your speech to the American people. My heart will break for the innocent ones of Syria as you recount the deaths of over 1,400 people at the hands of the ruthless Bashar al-Assad. I am sure that you will note that among the dead were 400 children. Therefore, you will demand Assad’s regime turn over all chemical weapons and stop the targeting of civilians. You will undoubtedly back up these demands with the threat of military force, which will result in even more people will die. Mr. President, I applaud your desire to protect innocent people from unconscionable men such as Assad. However Mr. President, there is one statistic that I wish you would consider.
Everyday in American some 3,000+ babies are butchered at the hands of ruthless doctors and nurses. That is twice as many people than the number who died from Assad’s chemical attack. Mr. President, do you want to save lives? Do you really want to protect the innocent? Then direct your righteous indignation at the abortion industry’s slaughtering houses in your own backyard.
Mr. President, you say your are a Christian and regard the words of the Bible as holy. Then let me kindly remind you of the words of Psalmist, “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there were none of them” (Psalms 139:13-16). You should know that all unborn children are known to God, fore He formed them. Therefore, they are living human beings, Mr. President, worthy of the protection of the United States of America just as much as are the children of Syria.
If you are really serious about sending a message to the world that America will not stand for such indiscriminate killing then shut down the abortion industry at home. End the slaughter here first. Then turn your attention to the rest of the world.
Will it be a bold move? Yes. Will it cost you politically? Probably, but only in the short-term. Mr. President, think it about, this one action will save millions of innocent lives. Therefore, in the long-run, your legacy will be sealed, you will be hailed as a hero for generations to come. Nevertheless, I fear you are only concerned about saving one life… your own political life.
I will pray that your heart will be open to the cries of the innocent here at home.
Sincerely, Clay Gentry
